End User Licence Agreement

The licence that comes with the Walkable Android app. It covers the software; the Walkable service and this website are covered by the Terms of Use.

Last updated: 9 August 2026

In short

You may install and use Walkable on your own devices, for free, for as long as you like. You may not take it apart and sell it on. We own the app; you own your walks. The app comes with no warranty, and the map data inside it belongs to OpenStreetMap contributors.

1. This agreement

This licence is between you and VorreiX, the publisher of Walkable (Android package com.vorreix.walkable). Installing or using the app means accepting it. It sits alongside the Terms of Use, which cover the service and the website, and the Privacy Policy, which covers your data. If you do not accept this licence, do not install the app, or uninstall it.

The app is distributed through Google Play, so Google’s own terms apply to the download and to any Play-side handling of it. Where Google Play’s terms require something of an app’s licence that this document does not say, the Play terms apply to the extent they must.

2. What you are allowed to do

VorreiX grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Walkable on Android devices you own or control, for your own private and non-commercial walking. There is no fee, no subscription, and no limit on how long the licence lasts other than the ones in this document.

The licence covers the app as it is distributed, including updates delivered through Google Play, and any offline map packages Walkable downloads for you to use inside the app.

3. What you are not allowed to do

  • sell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the app, a modified version of it, or its offline map packages as a product of your own;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except exactly as far as applicable law says you may despite a term like this one;
  • remove or obscure any copyright, attribution or licence notice — including the OpenStreetMap attribution shown with the map;
  • use the app, or an automated client pretending to be it, to place bulk load on the map, routing, weather or relay services it talks to;
  • circumvent a technical restriction in the app, or use it in a way designed to break another person’s privacy.

4. Ownership

Walkable is licensed, not sold. VorreiX keeps all rights in the app, its source code, its design, and the Walkable name and logo. Nothing here transfers ownership of any of that to you.

Your content stays yours. The walks you record, the photos, videos and voice notes you attach, your notes, your saved places and your exported files belong to you. They are stored on your phone, and VorreiX claims no rights over them. The app has no mechanism to send them to us — see the Privacy Policy for the complete list of what does leave the device and when.

5. Services and materials from other people

Walkable contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking SDK. What it does rely on, and each provider’s own terms apply to their part of it:

ServiceWhat it does for the app
Google PlayDistributes the app and delivers updates.
OpenStreetMap tile serversDraw the map you look at, unless an offline package covers the area.
Open-MeteoCurrent conditions once, at the start of a walk, from a coordinate rounded to about a kilometre.
Google DriveOptional, off until you set it up. Holds an encrypted backup in your own Drive’s private app-data folder.
Google MapsOnly when you tap “Open in Google Maps” for a route.
Relays for sharingOptional live sharing, sending a route to a friend, and handing a walk to a paired watch. Short-lived, and only when you start them.
Walkable supportCarries a message you write in the in-app help so it can be answered.

Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License. Offline map packages are derived from that data and carry the same licence. The attribution shown on the map is part of that licence and must stay visible.

6. Backups and your recovery key

Cloud backup is optional and off until you set it up. What lands in your Drive is encrypted on your phone first, with a key that is itself locked by a recovery key shown to you once and never stored or transmitted by Walkable.

The honest consequence: if you lose the recovery key, that backup can never be opened — not by you, not by us, not by Google. Keeping the key somewhere you will still have it is part of what you take on by switching backup on.

7. No warranty

To the fullest extent the law where you live allows, Walkable is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind — express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app is free of defects, that routes, distances, step counts or map data are accurate, or that it will run on every Android device or version.

Walkable is not a safety device and not medical advice. Deciding whether a path is safe to walk stays with you. Where you are a consumer, mandatory rights you have under the law that applies to you are not affected by this section.

8. Liability

To the fullest extent the applicable law allows, VorreiX is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the app — including data lost because a phone failed, a backup was never set up, or a recovery key was mislaid. Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the applicable law says cannot be excluded.

9. Ending the licence

The licence ends when you uninstall the app, and it ends automatically if you break a term of this agreement. When it ends you must stop using Walkable and remove it from your devices.

Ending the licence does not delete anything for you. Data on your phone goes when you uninstall or use Settings → Delete my Walkable data; a cloud backup lives in your Google account and survives uninstalling until you delete it. The steps are on Delete your data.

10. Changes to this licence

If this licence changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page and publish the new version at the same address. Continuing to use Walkable after a change means the updated licence applies.
