Backup and recovery
Are photos and videos included?
Short answer
Only if you deliberately switched media backup on. Photos, videos and voice notes are a separate option from the main backup, and on a new installation it starts switched off.

Why it is separate
Size, and consent. Your walk history is small; a year of photos is not. Uploading somebody's photographs because they wanted their routes protected would be answering a question they never asked.
If you already had it on
Your existing choice was preserved when the default changed. Somebody who had agreed to photos going to their own Drive kept that setting; only new installations start with it off.
