What is included in a backup?
Short answer
A Walkable backup contains your walk history — the recorded paths, distances, times and the notes attached to them — along with saved places and your settings. Photos, videos and voice notes are a separate, larger option that only applies if you switched it on.

The main backup
Your walks with their recorded paths, distances, durations and timestamps. Text notes attached to walks. Saved places. Reminders. Your goals, streaks and settings.
This is comparatively small, which is why it was the part that backed up regularly.
Media, separately
Photos, videos and voice notes attached to walks are much larger, so they were a separate switch you had to turn on yourself.
For anybody installing Walkable now, that switch starts off. If you had it on in an older version, your existing choice was kept rather than silently changed.
What is never in a backup
Downloaded offline map regions. They contain nothing about you and can simply be downloaded again, so backing up hundreds of megabytes of public map data would be pointless.
