How can I become a Trail Scout?

Short answer

Install Trail Scout and record a trail you know well. There is no application process and no account to create — like Walkable, it works without a login. Your first submission goes through the same verification and human review as everyone's.

Step by step

  1. Install Trail ScoutA separate app from Walkable.
  2. Walk a route you knowRecord it while you walk it, rather than drawing it afterwards.
  3. Mark what mattersJunctions that are easy to miss, gates, hazards, anything worth photographing.
  4. Describe it honestlyDifficulty and warnings included. A trail described too kindly is a trail somebody gets hurt on.
  5. Submit itAnother scout will walk it, and then a person decides.

What happens next?

Your submission waits for a verification walk by a different scout, then for a human review. You can follow its progress in the app, and you will see the reviewer's note whichever way it goes.
