Troubleshooting
My route starts from the wrong location
Short answer
Walkable planned from the position the phone reported at that moment, and that first fix had not settled yet. Standing outside for twenty or thirty seconds before starting fixes it almost every time.

Why the first fix is the worst one
A phone that has just come out of a pocket indoors starts with a rough guess, often from wifi and mobile networks rather than satellites. That guess can be a street or two out. It corrects itself within seconds of getting a clear sky — but if you pressed start before that, the walk begins from the wrong guess.
Common problems
It is consistently wrong by the same amount
The phone's location mode may be set to a battery-saving option that uses network positioning. Switch to high accuracy.
