Troubleshooting

My walk was not saved

Short answer

Two common causes: the walk was never finished, so it is still open rather than lost, or Android stopped Walkable in the background to save battery. Open the app and check whether a walk is still running before assuming it is gone.

Why battery optimisation causes this

Walkable runs a foreground service with a notification precisely so the system knows a walk is happening. Some manufacturers apply harsher rules on top and stop it anyway, usually with the screen off for a long stretch.

When that happens the recording up to that point is kept, but the walk cannot continue and may need finishing manually.

Step by step

  1. Open WalkableIf a walk is still in progress, finish it now — it will save with what it has.
  2. Check your historyWalks save on finish, so an unfinished walk will not be listed yet.
  3. Exclude Walkable from battery optimisationAndroid settings, apps, Walkable, battery — choose unrestricted. Also check any manufacturer 'app sleep' or 'protected apps' list.
