Does Walkable track me?

Android has a separate permission for apps that want your location when they are not open. Out of the box Walkable does not have it, does not ask for it, and cannot use it. Between walks the app knows nothing about where you are.

Auto Walk Detection records walks you forgot to start. It is off by default, and switching it on is the only thing that makes Walkable ask for background location — after a plain-language screen explaining exactly what it does.

Even then it does not watch where you are. It uses your phone's physical-activity information to notice that you have started walking, and only then looks at your location, to measure the distance and draw the route. A notification stays visible for as long as it records, just as for a walk you started yourself. Between walks it holds no location access whatsoever: no GPS, no background service, no periodic check of your position. Turn it off and Walkable goes straight back to recording only when you tap.

Walkable follows your position to draw your path and give directions, and writes that to your phone. It is not streamed anywhere. The one exception is live sharing, which you start deliberately and which stops when the walk ends.

Essentially nothing. There is no account, so there is no record connecting a walk to a person. Vercel's cookieless analytics count visits to this website and do not identify individuals or follow anyone between sites.
