What is Walkable?

Walkable exists for one thing: making it easier to go for a walk and enjoy it. Not training plans, not competing with anyone, not a feed. You open it, you get a route or you just start walking, and afterwards you have a record of where you went.

It is built around three things people actually do. Sometimes you want the app to suggest a route — a loop of roughly the distance you have time for. Sometimes you already know where you are going and you want directions. And sometimes you just want to walk and have it remembered.

There is no account. You do not sign up, you do not give an email address, and there is no password to forget. The app works the moment you install it.

Your walks live on your phone. Walkable does not keep a copy of your walking history on a server, which is why there is nothing for us to lose, sell or be compelled to hand over.

It works without a signal. Once you have prepared an offline map for your area, Walkable can plan and follow routes with the phone in aeroplane mode.

It is not a social network. There is no profile, no followers and no public feed of your walks. There is a Community page on this website for discussion, and it is deliberately separate from the app.

It is not a fitness tracker in the competitive sense. It counts distance, time and steps, and it notices when you walk often — but nothing is ranked against anybody else.
